About the event
We have two screening options: Movie, Panel and Lunch on Saturday, July 12th, 2025 and Dinner and a Movie on Thursday, July 17th, 2025.
This long-anticipated documentary delves into the often unacknowledged racial discrimination faced by black legal professionals in Canada. It scrutinizes the impact of racial profiling, showcases personal accounts of discrimination and highlights how specific narratives serve as evidence of systemic bias within the Canadian justice system.
Note: In connection with the upcoming LSO Equity Summit* on September 19, 2025 (RSVP in person or online), the OABP is honoured to be among the selected presenters. Our presentation will focus on the impact of anti-Black racism on Black legal professionals. As part of our ongoing research, we have developed a survey for Black-identifying legal professionals, which will be administered during each screening event. Participation in this survey is an important contribution to support our continued efforts to better understand and address these systemic issues.
While we warmly welcome attendance from BIPOC allies, please note that the number of ally tickets is limited. If demand exceeds capacity, a waitlist will be available, and we will do our best to accommodate as many attendees as possible.
Food and drinks will be provided, with menu selections available during ticket checkout.
This will be a great opportunity to network and engage in productive discussions!
