What is the Ontario Association of Black Paralegals?
We are an organization dedicated to advancing and supporting the career advancement and equality of Black paralegals and law clerks. In addition to providing mentorship opportunities, continuing professional development and other career supports, we also provide these individuals with the tools to navigate systemic discrimination in the justice system.

How do I join OABP?

Please note, OABP will begin accepting members on February 28, 2022. In the meantime, have a look around. Remember your feedback is important to us! Feel free to let us know how you can best be served as a member.
Who can become a member?
We have three membership tiers. Paralegal (licensed and non-licensed), Law Clerk and Student. Anyone in any of these categories can become a member.
Must you identify as Black in order to become a member?
Not at all!
Anyone can join OABP. Our focus is promoting career equality and advancement for Black paralegals and law clerks, but we are also dedicated to providing all legal professionals with the tools to recognize, denounce and combat systemic inequality.

Are there a membership dues?
Yes. Detailed information about membership dues will be provided shortly. Please subscribe to our mailing list below to stay informed.
Why are there a membership dues?
We're a non-profit organization run by a dedicated group of volunteers. Our goal is to provide you with the best service possible to meet our mandate and your needs. Our minimal annual membership fee allows us to continue to serve you and meet those needs and providing members with valuable benefits.
How can I join the mentorship program?
You must be a member to join the mentorship program.
Do you mentor college students or match them with co-op placements?
No. However, OABP does offer student membership which gives students access to our events and resources.
How can I become a mentor?
We're glad you asked! If you are interested in supporting our mentorship program, please fill out our Statement of Interest Form. One of our volunteers will be in touch.
